Marcus Mårtenson undersöker samtida frågor som konsumtion, övervakning och sociala medier i sitt konstnärskap. I arbetsprocessen förvandlar Mårtenson referenser från kapitalistisk populärkultur till samhällskritik. Mårtenson hämtar inspiration från aktuella händelser, graffiti, ikonmåleri och ifrån uppväxten i New York under 1980-talet. Hans målningar gestaltar system av tankar och idéer med tonvikt på den ständigt uppkopplade människans existentiella kris.

Marcus Mårtenson's artistic practice addresses contemporary issues such as consumption, surveillance and social media. In his work process references from capitalist popular culture are transformed into social criticism. Mårtensons sources of inspiration range from current events, graffiti, icon painting and from his upbringing in New York during the 1980s. His paintings embody a grid of thoughts and ideas mainly focusing on the existential crisis of the constantly connected human being.
