Efter en kort repetition av metoder för statistisk inferens diskuteras principerna för planering av försök. Replikation, blockning och randomisering, och hur dessa principer kan användas i olika typer av försök tas upp. Dimensionering av försök behandlas också. Vidare behandlas variansanalys i olika situationer: fullständigt randiomiserade försök, viktiga typer av modeller med slumpmässiga faktorer samt linjär regressionsanalys.
