An Effective AP* Organization
The 14-unit organization of this new text mirrors the scope and sequence of the College Board’s AP* Psychology Course Description.
New Terms and Content Tailored Toward the AP* Exam
Because they may appear on the AP* Exam, Edward Tolman is now explicitly associated with the concept of "latent learning" in the Learning unit, and Gustav Fechner with the concept of "absolute threshold" in the Sensation/Perception unit. In another example, Myers’ Psychology for AP* includes the term "procedural memory" as a synonym for "implicit memory." Reviewers have found "procedural memory" (which often appears on the Exam) easier for students to remember.
AP*-style Practice Questions in the Text
Charlie Blair-Broeker and Randy Ernst, longtime AP* Psychology teachers and authors of the popular high school general psychology text, Thinking About Psychology (see back page), have written 15 AP*-style multiple-choice questions and 1 free-response question for each unit or sub-unit in the new Myers text. Answers, along with a grading rubric for all free-response questions, are in the Teacher’s Edition.
Robust Ancillary Materials, Including a Wealth of AP*-specific Resources
The Myers’ Psychology for AP* media and supplements package offers teachers and students the best of everything: exclusive AP*-specific teaching and learning guides; state-of-the-art Worth psychology media tailored to the AP* course, including a hyper-functional eBook; and a wealth of additional videos, simulations, tutorials, and activities to enhance the AP* experience for students and teachers alike.
High School-Specific Examples
Myers replaced examples and references acceptable for college-aged students but potentially inappropriate in high school. For instance, in his discussion of signal detection theory in the Sensation/Perception unit, Myers offers a new texting example to replace his former military example. As another example, a reference to "Remember when you were in high school?" was changed to "Remember when you were in middle school?"
